Configuring the StatMan key assignment Within Brief, you can bring up StatMan a few different ways:  The most basic way is to call it via . At the "Command:" prompt, enter "statman". Go ahead and try it now!  For Brief v3.1x users, a handy way is to use the Brief Popup Menu. The Popup Menu is summoned according to the way you configured it at Brief install time, usually by clicking the right mouse button. Once the Popup Menu appears, just click on the entry, "StatMan." Go ahead and try it now!  The most convenient way, especially if you use StatMan a lot, is to make a key assignment. The standard Brief Keys macro can be used to set (and modify) this key assignment. Here's how to do it:  Call up the Keys macro by pressing and entering, "keys".  Within the left menu, cursor down to the entry, "StatMan" (hint: press to jump to the entries beginning with 's').  Press to move to the right menu.  Press to add a new assignment for StatMan.  Enter your key assignment. For example, if you'd like to pop the StatMan via , enter that.  To finish the assignment, press .  Press to return to the left menu.  Press to finish your Keys session.  You will now be given the option to make this key assignment permanent. At the "Save changes permanently [yn]?" prompt, enter your choice. Unless you're just experimenting with this key assignment, press to make it permanent. Keep in mind that you can always use the Keys macro again to change or delete this key assignment.  Try out your assignment now! It will work regardless of whether or not you've chosen to make it permanent. For more information on the Keys macro, see your Brief User's Guide. Remember, you need not make a key assignment for StatMan right now. Just remember the other ways to pop the index, and use the Keys macro when you're ready to make the assignment. Keep in mind, that in the event that you decide to uninstall StatMan, StatMan's Setup will remove your key assignment, if one exists. When you're ready, exit Brief to return to StatMan's Setup.
